You are not alone if your belly isn’t responding to your fat loss routines. Many men struggle to flatten their midsection through diet and exercise, and liposuction can answer your problem.

Liposuction is a safe and effective method for men to eliminate unwanted fat from nearly any area of their bodies. Notably, it can reduce belly fat faster and better than other alternatives. Liposuction uses a cannula, a thin, hollow tube, to loosen fat cells before breaking them up and suctioning them out of the body.

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure; removing fat from problematic areas can dramatically improve your shape and appearance.

Male Liposuction Before & After

Why is it hard for men to lose stomach fat?

Men may experience more significant challenges when trying to lose stubborn fat in the stomach and flank/“love handles” than women. Some of the reasons for this include:

  • Stress: Consistently elevated cortisol levels encourage fat storage, increase appetite, and cause cravings for sugar.
  • Genetics: You may be genetically prone to carry extra weight in these areas, such as if your father held most of his weight around his belly. Men are also genetically more likely to have most of their fat cells located in the love handles.
  • Age: Men gain weight until approximately age 55 before they start to lose weight due to a gradual and age-related decrease in testosterone.

How is liposuction for men different from liposuction for women

Liposuction in men typically focuses on different areas than in women, such as:

  • Neck / beneath the chin
  • Chest
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks or love handles

Additionally, men produce a different type of fat than women, encased in fibrous tissue that is considerably more difficult to remove. For men, power-assisted liposuction is commonly used to help dissolve the fat and make it easier to remove.

What are the benefits and results of liposuction for men?

The primary benefits of liposuction for men include:

  • Immediate fat removal
  • Minimally invasive
  • High rate of patient satisfaction
  • Minimal downtime
  • Permanent results

You may experience swelling for four to six weeks after your procedure, but improvement in the shape of your body will still be visible soon after your procedure.

Approximately three months after liposuction, the final results will be apparent, and the incisions fade into subtle, thin scars. If You Gain Weight After Liposuction, it may come back to your treated areas. Every 7 to 8 years, your body regenerates fat cells. This means that if you do gain weight after liposuction, it is possible that you will regain some of the weight in the areas that were originally treated when fat cells regenerate.

What are the benefits and results ofadding renuvion skin tightening to liposuction

Liposuction removes the excess fat from a treated area, but the skin may still look loose. Renuvion® can tighten and firm skin after liposuction to give patients an overall more contoured result. Renuvion® tightens the skin using a combination of radiofrequency and plasma energy. This energy comes from a thin wand inserted through a cannula under the skin. The helium plasma helps to cool the process to a more comfortable temperature.

Renuvion® sends pulses into the skin, causing immediate contraction of the skin from underneath. This causes the skin on the surface to visibly tighten. This energy also triggers the skin cells to produce collagen, building the network of dermal fibers that give skin strength and firmness.

CraftMD

Liposuction procedure and recovery

Liposuction is a minimally invasive outpatient surgery generally performed under IV sedation or local anesthesia, depending on how many areas are being treated. The number of areas that can be safely treated in one procedure is dependent on the total volume removed. Dr. Craft will discuss with you how many areas or zone of liposuction that would mean for your specific case.

The procedure beings with Dr. Craft making small incisions at the treatment site, through which he inserts the power-assisted cannula. The vibrations loosen excess fat and breaks up targeted tissues before suctioning the fat away. The incisions will then be closed.

Your exact amount of downtime and recovery details will depend on the following:

  • The areas that Dr. Craft treated
  • How much fat was removed during your procedure
  • How quickly your specific body heals

You should be able to return to non-strenuous work in about a week. Additionally, you will be given a compression garment for six weeks to help with swelling, healing, and contouring.

While you shouldn’t push yourself, walking around several times daily to increase circulation during your recovery is essential. Most patients begin walking the day after their procedure.
