What to Expect on the Day of Neck Lift Surgery

A neck lift is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation or with IV sedation. The incisions are made both under the chin and behind the ear, and the exact position and length of the incisions will be determined by how much skin needs to be treated. Dr. Craft makes the incisions carefully, keeping in mind their visibility.

The skin will be separated from the muscle and underlying fat, and the fat will be gently removed, which contours the neck and jawline. The underlying muscle is tightened, and the excess skin is raised and removed. The incisions are then closed with sutures.
