What Is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the jawline and neck. By making incisions behind the ears, a neck lift addresses sagging skin, muscle banding, excess fat, and other concerns. Dr. Craft specializes in customizing neck lift procedures to suit each patient’s unique anatomy and aesthetic goals to restore a more youthful and defined contour to the neck and jaw area.

Who Are the Best Candidates For a Neck Lift?

Individuals seeking to address concerns such as the “turkey wattle” effect, crepey neck skin, or overall neck aging can be strong candidates for a neck lift in Phoenix. Those who wish to regain a more youthful and contoured neck appearance often find this procedure ideal.

What Are the Benefits of a Neck Lift?

A neck lift will make you look like your best self by restoring a defined neck and jawline. Aging and weight fluctuations often result in the development of excess fat and loose, drooping skin beneath the chin, and a neck lift can achieve dramatic results. The procedure can:

  • Define the chin, neck, and jawline
  • Remove excess fat from under the chin
  • Tighten sagging neck skin
  • Soften neck wrinkles
  • Sculpt the jowls
  • Achieve a more contoured and youthful neck

What’s the First Step?

To begin your cosmetic journey in Phoenix, you will sit down with Dr. Craft and his team for a private consultation. The doctor will listen to your goals, address your questions, and discuss the risks, downtime, and costs associated costs of a neck lift. To ensure the procedure is safe and successful for you, Dr. Craft will conduct a thorough medical review and physical assessment. We will then schedule your procedure and provide you with instructions on how to best prepare for surgery.

What to Expect on the Day of Neck Lift Surgery

A neck lift is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation or with IV sedation. The incisions are made both under the chin and behind the ear, and the exact position and length of the incisions will be determined by how much skin needs to be treated. Dr. Craft makes the incisions carefully, keeping in mind their visibility.

The skin will be separated from the muscle and underlying fat, and the fat will be gently removed, which contours the neck and jawline. The underlying muscle is tightened, and the excess skin is raised and removed. The incisions are then closed with sutures.

Neck Lift Recovery

After the neck lift, your head will be wrapped with bandages, which you will need to wear for a few days. You will have some bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort. Dr. Craft can prescribe or recommend medication to help alleviate this condition. Most patients need about two weeks to recover from neck lift surgery. It’s important during this period to avoid bending your back and to keep your head elevated.

You will be given detailed instructions for home care to help your recovery go smoothly. The final results of a neck lift will become apparent within four months, after swelling and bruising have completely subsided. The scars should fade within a year, but will look better and better each day before that. Neck lift results last for many years.
