What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is an effective technique for contouring the thighs when liposuction alone cannot improve their appearance, and it is often performed in conjunction with liposuction to achieve optimal results. A thigh lift addresses issues such as loose skin or cellulite on the thighs that can come with pregnancy, a previous procedure, weight loss, or aging. The quality of your skin and your specific areas of concern will determine whether or not a thigh lift is the right treatment for you.

  • A medial thigh lift removes and tightens moderately excessive skin at the top of the inner thigh. The incision is made in the natural crease of the groin and goes to the crease of the buttocks.

  • A vertical thigh lift is the most common lifting procedure for the inner thighs and the knee area. Effective for moderate to severe excess skin that extends all the way around the thigh, the vertical thigh lift incision goes along the natural crease of the groin and along the inside of the thigh.

  • With an outer thigh lift, the incision is made along the waistline and goes all the way around. This technique is effective for the higher area of the outer thighs near the hips, where the skin can often appear lax and crinkled.

Who Are the Best Candidates For a Thigh Lift?

If you’re considering undergoing a thigh lift in Phoenix, you may be a great candidate. During your consultation with Dr. Craft, he will go over your medical history, areas of concern, and personal aesthetic goals to determine if you’re an appropriate candidate for this procedure. The ideal thigh lift candidate:

  • Is unhappy with the appearance of their thighs
  • Is realistic in their expectation for the procedure
  • Is at, or near to, their ideal weight
  • Is in good health
  • Has control over any medical issues
  • Has a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or less
  • Does not smoke

What Are the Benefits of a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift can completely transform the appearance of your legs by removing sagging skin, tightening underlying tissues, and smoothing away areas of wrinkling or cellulite. The procedure helps create a firmer, leaner, and more sculpted appearance that better aligns with your body’s natural proportions. And beyond the aesthetic improvement, many also find greater comfort in clothing, improved mobility, and a significant boost in confidence when they no longer feel self-conscious about loose or drooping thigh skin.

What to Expect on the Day of Thigh Lift Surgery

The type of anesthesia and incisions that will be used will depend on the level of treatment to be done and the technique of thigh lift you’ll be getting.

On the day of your surgery, you will arrive at our accredited facility, where Dr. Craft and his team will review your surgical plan and answer any final questions. You’ll then receive anesthesia administered to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Depending on the type of thigh lift being performed (medial, vertical, or outer), Dr. Craft will carefully place incisions in the most discreet locations possible before tightening tissues, removing excess skin, and sculpting your thighs to achieve a smooth, contoured result. After surgery, you’ll be monitored in recovery before being released to return home with a trusted caregiver.

Thigh Lift Recovery

Patients often experience tenderness, bruising, and swelling after a thigh lift procedure. You should expect to take about two weeks off from work or school, and six weeks off from exercise and more strenuous activities.

You will be given a compression garment to wear during your recovery to help with swelling and healing. We will also provide you with home care instructions to help with your recovery period.

You will be able to see the benefits of your thigh lift in Phoenix fairly soon after treatment; however, final results are usually apparent after a few months.
