It’s no secret that experiencing hair loss can have a very negative effect on your self-esteem and confidence. For those seeking an effective hair loss solution, ACARA offers PRP hair restoration treatments.

What is PRP hair restoration?

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) hair restoration is an extraordinary hair loss treatment that uses your body’s own plasma to stimulate dormant hair cells and help trigger new hair growth. The procedure involves a blood draw, the separation of blood from the plasma, and injections within the scalp to create new hair to grow. PRP hair treatments are especially effective for those who have androgenetic alopecia.

How does PRP hair restoration work?

Our blood contains plasma that houses platelets, the growth factors that are responsible for stimulating the growth of cells and repairing tissue. With PRP hair restoration, these platelets are injected into the scalp to trigger brand-new hair growth over the course of multiple treatments.

PRP hair restoration treatment details

Your PRP hair restoration treatment will begin with your scalp being washed, and then the application of a local anesthetic to minimize any discomfort. Your blood will then be drawn from a vein (1 to 2 ounces) and will be put into a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma.

Once this is done, the plasma is drawn into a syringe and is then administered to the scalp, in targeted hair follicles in a series of injections. The area will be numbed, but you may feel some pressure during the injections. Treatment typically takes about an hour and a half.

Recovery

After your PRP hair restoration treatment, your scalp may feel a little sore for the rest of the day; however, you can return to your regular activities. Some patients also report swelling, itching, or minimal bleeding at the injection sites.

Results

Those considering PRP hair restoration treatment should understand that this procedure is a process, and not an instant fix. Multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve results and often to maintain them, depending on the level of hair loss. It’s also important for those considering this treatment to realize that their type of hair loss may not respond to PRP hair restoration treatments. Because hair loss is caused by different factors, not all treatments can target the same origins of loss.

PRP hair restoration candidates

If you’re interested in PRP hair restoration treatments, you may be a great candidate. The best candidates for this procedure are healthy men and women who are experiencing hair loss, and who understand that this treatment may not be permanent and that it is a gradual process.
